JDIH Envireau undertake water resources study on Lake Albert, Uganda.

Following JDIH’s initial involvement in a Ugandan oilfield development project back in November 2007, the project developed requiring a further water resources study to be carried out.

A study into the impact of a surface water abstraction was now necessary leading JDIH to review in detail the water resources flux of the main large African lake system; including Lake Albert and Lake Victoria. The aim of the investigation and data analysis was to determine whether the desired abstraction would have a significant impact upon the water resources of the Nile river system that the lakes feed.

The technical work posed a challenge through the complex interactions between the ‘Great Lakes’ and the location in an equatorial climate.

The water balance assessment carried out will allow our client to present the Ugandan governmental authority with the technical information necessary on which to base determination of a future abstraction licence application.
